It’s no secret that the NT is home to some of the best fishing in Australia. This season, we have released over 100 prize-tagged barras into five incredible fishing regions, Darwin, Kakadu, Arnhem Land, Katherine and the Tiwi Islands.

A total of 16 red-tagged fish were recaptured in Season 7 and over 60 prized fish have been claimed since the comp began in 2015, but the elusive Million Dollar Fish is yet to be reeled in by one lucky fisho.

This season there are 9 red-tagged fish worth $1 million in Top End waterways – so come on, wet a line and try your luck.

Today authorities confirmed there are now nine head honchos carrying a $1 million reward at large across the Top End, in addition to 100 accomplices carrying a $10,000 reward.

"We're ready to part with this reward money," said Detective Barry Mundine, "let's get out on the water and find these barra bandits."

🐟 Take the 3 photos needed to verify the fish: the front of the fish, on a fish mat with the tag visible, and a close up of the tag showing the number.

Authorities shared today that there have been numerous sightings of Australia's Most Wanted Fish.

"One guy said it was thiiiiiiis big," said Detective Barry Mundine, "We have yet to see any physical evidence, but fishos never exaggerate about the size of a fish."

The hunt for Australia's Most Wanted Fish captivated anglers across the nation earlier this year, as the 'Million Dollar Fish Red-Tag Crew' head honchos remained at large in Northern Territory waters.

Today investigators are re-opening the cold case, begging fishos to register for Million Dollar Fish Season 8 and join the search for the barra bandits from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023.

Authorities have confirmed that each of the known gang leaders carry a reward of $1 million, with their accomplices carrying a $10,000 reward. More information about the infamous gang is expected in coming weeks.
